TIPS ON HOW TO CONTROL, HEAL & PREVENT MASKNE

You may have noticed since the whole Covid craze has begun your skin began to freak out a little bit or A LOT… don’t worry you are not alone! The constant rubbing of the mask on the skin causes inflammation and irritation; it also causes the skin to become sore due to the constant friction, OUCH!. In addition moisture and humidity gets trapped inside of the mask and becomes a breeding ground for bacteria...thus creating an ugly breakout, YUCK!

Wearing a mask has been proven essential during this time to ensure the health and safety of you and those around you, but it is doing a number on our skin. Dermatologists have reported that there is an increase in breakouts, dry skin, and even fungal infections.

Although we MUST wear the mask here are a few tips to help reduce those icky breakouts and help prevent them.

1. First of all you want to try to use soft natural material such as cotton, I was personally  using KN95 and that did a number on my skin. The synthetic fibers are way too rough for daily use without damage. Also be sure to wash your mask daily, this is VERY important!

 2. Be relentless about cleansing! Be sure to double cleanse at night to make sure your day is washed off of your face, never go to bed without cleansing your face. Try LD Botanicals’ Lavender Charcoal Facial Cleanser. It is great for a deep but gentle cleanse.

3. The last thing you want to do is increase the problem so try to stay away from harsh ingredients such as acid based or retinol based products. Instead use products that will help to calm and heal your skin, such as aloe vera, or LD Botanicals’ Solid Gold Facial Serum, or a deeply hydrating mask.

It definitely took some time for my skin to clear and heal from the damage of the KN95 but I was able to reverse the effects by being consistent with my skin care routines and by switching up the masks I was wearing.

Products I used to help my healing process:

1) Lavender Charcoal Facial Cleanser

2) Skin Soothing Facial Toner

3) Solid Gold Facial Serum
